A Smarter Way to RV
April 6, 2009
In my constant search to make the Green RV more eco-friendly, I am always looking for ways to lessen my footprint. Though I endeavor to find biodiesel as often as I can, fuel consumption and cost are always front and center in my mind. A properly inflated tire equates to savings at the pump and less of an impact on our environment. To that end, today I met with the folks from Truck Systems Technologies, Inc. to learn about their products.
I visited with Dan, Melissa and Tamara at the corporate offices in Cummings, Georgia and learned all about their Tire Product Monitoring System. This automatic and wireless system allows you to monitor both tire pressure and temperature from inside the cab (because of its built in backlight, its large clear display is even visible at night). Just like the SPOT Satellite Messenger, this device lives up to the saying, “Big things come in little packages.” You can get TST Truck’s TPMS at Camping World stores across the country.
When it comes to energy conservation, to keep your tires inflated is a huge deal. Not only will it save you money, it may very well save your life. With stories of tragic accidents where tire blow outs are followed by a crash, keeping track of proper inflation is a major safety enhancement. Additionally, I have the ability to monitor the pressure in my spare tire eliminating the need to worry it will need air should I come to rely on it.
While I now have 7 tire sensors monitoring my Rig, Truck System Technologies has TPMS for trucks, RVs and tractor trailers, allowing for up to 22 tire sensors to be installed. Overall the system was easy to install. This new addition, along with the Rickson Truck Wheels, Bridgestone Tires, Roadmaster anti-sway bars and SuperSprings are the most important pieces of my safety package on the Green RV.
If you would like to check out these, along with other features of the Green RV and are going to be in attendance at The Rally next week, please ensure you stop by and see me!
